Thanks to hash tag on the urban75 boards for the tip off. I like the “ahh sod it, that’ll do for now” vibe of the sign, and that it has done, in all likelihood, since the late 1980s.
It’s not the only aquarium on this site either, the Crystal Palace Aquarium was added in 2010, and pleasingly, 14 years later, it looks like the same signage, and 01 number is still in place:
